Genre: Supernatural horror
Main subject: Children
Target audience: Age range between 15 and 25. From our research we found that more women prefer the horror genre compared to men, some men said they found the genre silly and poorly made, our aim is to change this opinion.
Other movie inspirations: Thr Amityville horror, The Exorcist, Sinister and The Woman in Black. All of which incorporate children, their narratives rely on chilling child characters.
Plans for sound: Majority of sound will be non- diagetic as horror films often rely on the added background sound in order to build tension. A distant scream and creaking swing movement will be sound we will also add later in editing.
Plans for mise en scène: Muted colours, more specifically black, white and grey. We are aiming to film in the early morning so there will be haze and fog which will hopefully dim the scenery. Our child character will be dressed in a white dress as well as pale makeup in order to remove as much colour from the scene as possible.
Locations: Two local parks; one of which has a swing set, the other is mainly forest.
Cast: Holly's eight year old niece who has volunteered to be our creepy child character. Janadhi will play the dog walker, Dexter the dog will play the dog.
The plan:
The introduction will begin with a black screen with just the sound of a creaking swing set, the next few shots will show a ghostly girl in a dress swinging by herself. When non- diagetic begins to play in the background the girl will stare into the camera and move from the swing, while clutching a teddy bear, she'll begin to walk into an area of forest and then dissapear into the trees.
The camera will then pan from the forest entrance, showing much more of the park in an establishing shot. There will be the sound of a distant scream and then a time lapse from day to evening , showing a change in day/ time period.
There will then be a pan back to the entrance of the forest, this time a different character will be stood there, this time a dog walker,. The camera will follow the dog walker, following them through the trees until they pass a teddy bear hanging from a tree branch. All sound will stop and the scene will quickly change to black.
